How Our House Works
Where does the power come from? Where does the water come from? How does the heat work? And where does it go after you flush?
Little ones ask these all the time. This five-day unit follows the wires, the pipes, and the warm air through your own house, one question a day, then a walk around the whole house and a pot of boiled eggs on Friday.
Your unit is ready.
A copy is on its way to your inbox too. A good place to start: flip a light switch and ask, “Where do you think the light comes from?” Any guess is a good one.
One question a day
What’s inside
Four questions
Power, water, heat, and the flush, each with a drawn diagram and a short note for you to read first.
Books, a poem, a verse
Four read-alouds from the library, “Jack and Jill” to learn by heart, and Joshua 24:15 for the week.
Hands busy
A house hunt outside, a shoebox house, thermostat math, two coloring pages, and boiled eggs to make together.
